What You Can Do To Support The Establishment Of
A U.S. Department Of Peace

  • First and foremost, every day in every way, BE PEACE.
  • Inform yourself about the history, legislation, and campaign for a U.S. Department of Peace. See www.thepeacealliance.org.
  • Spread the word about the Department of Peace and the movement for a culture of peace – talk to family, friends, church and community groups. For more information, see  www.thepeacealliance.org/content/view/46/124/.
  • Phone the U.S. Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to speak with your representative in Congress, urging him or her to co-sponsor and actively support passage of H.R. 808, the bill in the House of Representatives of the 110th Congress to establish a U.S. Department of Peace. Also, ask to speak with your senators, urging them to introduce and support a companion bill in the Senate.   • Ask your city council and board of supervisors to pass resolutions supporting the Department of Peace legislation. For more information on how to do this and the cities that have so far passed such resolutions, see www.thepeacealliance.org/content/view/172/143/.
  • Write letters to newspapers about the benefits of a Department of Peace for preventing conflict at the level of root cause, and ask local newspapers to publish editorials and op-ed pieces about it.   • Support financially the Peace Alliance. You may send donations – one-time or as a monthly or quarterly Peace Partner – to The Peace Alliance, P.O. Box 70095, Rochester Hills, Michigan 48307, or click on “Donate” at www.thepeacealliance.org
  • Nominate local, national, or international organizations you know of that are working for a culture of peace for entry in the Peace Registry database at www.PeaceRegistry.org.
  • nform yourself about the global movement for ministries and departments of peace in countries around the world. See www.mfp-dop.org.
