We are a group of Illinois residents committed to supporting the establishment of a cabinet level U.S. Department of Peace and Nonviolence.  We come together from different political backgrounds with the common concern of reducing and preventing violence in our communities and finding proactive means to promote and create a culture of peace.

We strive to provide people with knowledge, skill, support, and community to become powerful citizen activists on behalf of the Department of Peace legislation.  We hope to enhance the political will of Illinois residents and inspire them to exercise their civil rights and lobby their elected representatives for measures that will reduce violence in our communities.  We also are people who strive to practice the principles we seek to achieve.  Many have visited their members of congress for the first time as part of this campaign, have raised their confidence levels and felt empowered to do more.
